Question: Many of the DigASystem help files are in CHM files, why don't these files seem to work?

Answer: It is not possible to open CHM files over a network. This is a Windows restriction involving security patches and can be solved if the CHM file is opened on the local machine. We suggest using DigaLoad for this purpose and including an update of the CHM files to the local machine. Be sure to change the appropriate path for the help file location in the corresponding program's parameters!

This problem came with one of Microsofts Security Patches. There is another solution to get CHM Files through a network connection working.

After you install security update 896358, security update 840315, or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may experience the following symptoms:
If you have installed security update 896358 or Windows Server 2003 SP1, you may experience the following symptoms:
The features of some of Web applications on the computer no longer work. For example, a topic may not be displayed after you click a link.
When you try use a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path to open a Compiled Help Module file (.chm file) on a network shared folder, topics in the .chm file do not appear.
If you have installed security update 840315, the Web applications that nest protocols within the InfoTech protocols in a URL do not work correctly on the computer.

Solution:
Open the Windows registry key "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\]". Create a subkey "ItssRestrictions" with a new DWORD "MaxAllowedZone" inside. This parameter can have multiple values:

0:
Local Machine zone allowed
Local intranet zone blocked
Trusted sites zone blocked
Internet zone blocked
Restricted sites zone blocked
